- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪The nurse-led triage service at Accident and Emergency is incredibly efficient. I can't stress how wonderful the nurses are, and that's not just because I would marry any of them in an instant. My GP sent me in with a mysterious yet dangerous pulse of 120 and BP of 165/105 and they got me into a chair immediately. What the department lacks is any kind of raw brain power on the diagnostic 'doctor' side. The experienced female emergency doctor of West Asian origin that I saw had dangerous gaps in her knowledge, believing that blood pressure in the 'stage 2 hypertension' range in combination with confusion was 'normal' for a historically fit 27 year old male. Because my bloods, ECG and chest X-ray came back clear, she patently decided I was a drug user who'd scared himself, kept me monitored under false pretenses (one of the blood results apparently taking longer than the other 12), and eventually told me to go home and drink plenty of water. I didn't drag my 130s-IQ ass through 7 years in a frankly unnatural all-boys grammar school to be presumed a junkie and humoured. By the book I was a clear heart echo case, as I will tell my GP tomorrow if I'm still here, when she checks my blood pressure and writes them another letter.by Manuscript4March 22, 2017
